The drive is approximately 2.5–3 hours each way, over the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains at 2,260m. The mountain road itself is one of the most scenic in Morocco, with viewpoints along the way.

What will we see at Ait Ben Haddou?

Your guide leads you through the UNESCO Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou — a labyrinthine clay fortress of ancient alleys, tower-houses and communal granaries, with a climb to the hilltop panorama above. It's the backdrop to Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Lawrence of Arabia.

Is Ouarzazate included in the trip?

Yes. On the return, you stop in Ouarzazate — Morocco's film capital — for a visit to the famous Atlas Film Studios before heading back over the mountains to Marrakech.

A traditional Moroccan lunch is served in the village at Ait Ben Haddou. Lunches and beverages are at your own expense (not included in the tour price), but your guide can recommend where to eat.

Descend to the pre-Saharan plateau and arrive at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou — a UNESCO World Heritage Site built entirely from clay and straw. Your guide leads you through the ancient alleys, past granaries and watchtowers, up to the hilltop panorama above. A traditional Moroccan lunch is served in the village before continuing to Ouarzazate for a visit to the famous cinema studios. Return to Marrakech via the scenic High Atlas road, arriving by early evening.
