3 Day Sahara Desert Tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga

5 • 4 traveller reviews

Route

Ouarzazate → Rose Valley → Todra Gorge → Erg Chebbi → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate

Duration

3 Days

A beautifully self-contained three-day loop from Ouarzazate — through the Skoura palm oasis, the Rose Valley and the Todra Gorge to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Spend a night in a Berber desert camp and return via the village of N'kob and the sweeping Draa Valley.

We believe the best journeys feel personal — with the flexibility to tailor everything from activities and accommodation to pacing and the route itself.

Highlights

Kasbah Ameridil in the Skoura palm oasis — one of the south's most beautiful kasbahs, rising from an ocean of date palms.

Wind through the Rose Valley and the Route of 1,000 Kasbahs — a landscape unlike anywhere else in Morocco.

Walk the Todra Gorge — 300-metre sheer cliffs, a clear river below, one of North Africa's most dramatic natural corridors.

Arrive at the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback at sunset and spend the night in a fully equipped Berber camp under the stars.

Return via N'kob — the village of 45 kasbahs — and the long, sweeping Draa Valley back to Ouarzazate.

The Experience

More than just the destinations

Every itinerary is carefully curated to balance Morocco's most unforgettable landscapes, culture, and experiences — whilst still allowing the flexibility to customise the journey around your own pace, interests, and travel style.

Day 1

Ouarzazate Through the Rose Valley to the Dadès

Depart Ouarzazate after breakfast and head east along the Route of 1,000 Kasbahs. Stop at Kasbah Ameridil in the lush Skoura palm oasis before continuing through the Rose Valley, famous for its Damascus roses. Arrive in the spectacular Dadès Valley by evening. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2

Todra Gorge to the Erg Chebbi Desert Camp

Head through the Todra Gorge in the morning — sheer 300-metre cliffs rising on either side of a clear, fast-running river. Continue east to Merzouga. At the dune edge, mount your camel and ride into the Sahara as the sun descends. Your Berber camp awaits: dinner, live traditional music and an extraordinary sky overhead.

Day 3

Sahara Sunrise, N'kob and the Draa Valley

Wake early for the Saharan sunrise from the highest dune, then ride back for breakfast. Begin the scenic return to Ouarzazate via the village of N'kob — home to 45 kasbahs — and the sweeping Draa Valley. Arrive back at your hotel in Ouarzazate by late afternoon.
